2  MysteryQuest and HistoryQuest Training

Description: The MysteryQuest format involved 4-6 classes connecting together to present clues and guess what the other classes presented. We have several versions for many grade levels: Where in Michigan (3rd), MysteryQuest USA (4th), HistoryQuest5 (5th), MysteryQuest Western Hemisphere (6th), MysteryQuest Europe, Asia, or Africa (7th), HistoryQuest8 (8th), as well as LiteratureQuest for high school English. The format comes in two versions: a long 2-2.5 hour version, and a shorter one that can fit into your class period for middle school and high school. Come to the training to learn how the format works and how to prepare your students to participate.

3  Connecting & Collaborating with Web Tools

4  Kid to Kid Videoconference Connections

Description: Videoconference (VC) connections between classes open up a whole new world of collaborative learning for students! Immerse yourself in videoconference connections with partner classes. Learn about structures/templates for projects with other classes and implement them with your students and a partner classroom. During the class you’ll reflect on exemplary student-to-student projects, receive support during your own project connection, and apply your learning in your classroom. • Teachers participating in this class will receive assistance in finding a partner class for projects either within the class or with assistance from the instructor.• Distance learning coordinators and media specialists will learn to design and support local teachers in participating in project connections.

5  Technology in the Early Elementary Classroom

Description: This online course is targeted to K-5 teachers who wish to learn about using the Internet, digital cameras, KidPix, TuxPaint, or Tech4Learning’s Pixie in the classroom. Many practical classroom ideas, management strategies, and lesson ideas will be shared. Opportunity is given to try ideas in the classroom during the class. Participants should expect to commit 6-8 hours a week to the class. Teachers are encouraged to sign up with a buddy teacher.
